Handouts
Whether you are interested in learning about aspects of Operation On-Target, materials for training your team, or promotional material to get other teams interested in Operation On-Target, this is the location for such materials.
The first handout (2018 ...) is a good handout template - two sided with signup information on one side, and information about Operation On-Target and resource links on the other. You are welcome to tailor this for your local Operation On-Target dates, coordinator and contact information, etc.
The four-part Power Point presentation On_Target_Training_2013 ... was presented at a weekend Operation On-Target workshop. It is provided here for your use (as-is, or adapted to your region or your needs.) It covers:
Part 1: Why Signal Mirrors? Why Signal Mirror Aimers? A short history of sun-mirror signaling, focused on California and Riverside, CA.
Part 2: Signal Mirror development during WW2, what they looked like, how they work.
Part 3: Signal Mirror Safety. What a 46-mile flash looks like. Why Signal Mirror Aimers. Step by Step construction of Retroreflective Aimer.
Part 4: Picking your Peak. Riverside favorites. Mountain patches. Sighting Tips. HeyWhatsThat.com, Peakfinder.org.
The .pdf file: "Operation_On_Target_Outline_2019.pdf" covers a number of areas of preparation for Operation On Target, together with links to online resources to help with those areas.
The remaining handouts were provided by the Varsity Scouts of Mesa, AZ, and are also on their Resources page.
